Two China Eastern Routes In Yunnan To Be Suspended From May 4
According to Southwest Regional Administration of CAAC, two of China Eastern Airlines' routes from Kunming to Xishuangbanna and to Dali are to be suspended from May 4.
Air China, Shenzhen Airlines, Lucky Air and China West Air will operate these two routes instead. In addition, from April 26, some of flights from Kunming to Lijiang, Zhongdian, Mangshi, Lincang, Simao, and Wenshan operated by China Eastern will be adjusted and reduced.
From March 31 to April 1, 21 CEA flights returned to their departure points in Yunnan. Of these the most returned flights were on routes from Kunming to Lijiang, Xishuangbanna and Dali. On April 17, CAAC announced the results of an enquiry and decided on a penalty for the incident but no detailed timescale has been published. As punishment, CEA would be stripped of some of its routes and flights operated in Yunnan as well as facing a RMB1.5 million fine.
Southwest Regional Administration of CAAC urged CEA to arrange orderly endorsements and refunds for passengers who have bought or booked air tickets for those routes and flights. The four airlines replacing CEA are also required to organize transportation capacity and coordinate flight schedules quickly.
