Chongqing To Build Tourist Distribution Center
Chongqing has decided to build a tourist distribution center to provide tourism services for travelers around and beyond the city.
Chongqing Tourist Distribution Center is scheduled to be opened to the public by next year. At present, there are tourist distribution centers around China including in Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Nanjing. The Shanghai Tourist Distribution Center opened in 1998 and the number of tourists increased from 540,000 the same year to 1.2 million in 2006. It proves that besides directly offering good services for tourists, a tourist distribution center also is helpful in promoting an urban tourism image.
The network of Chongqing Tourist Distribution Center will focus on the central area of the city, covering Jiangbei International Airport, Longtousi Railway Station, Hongqihegou Bus Station, Nanping Bus Station, Chenjiaping Bus Station, Wanzhou District and Qianjiang District. The center will take its boutique tourism products as the core, combining tour itineraries of surrounding areas such as Sichuan and Guizhou to build itself into one of the major tourist distribution centers for domestic and overseas tourists. Initially, the city has designed twelve one-day tour itineraries, ten two-day tours, and five three-day tours.
The ticket network system of the center will mainly target FIT travelers and provide ticket services including by air, sea, and rail as well as travel packages including vehicle, tickets for scenic spots, accommodation, and food.
