Asiana Airlines Suspends Its Chengdu Route
Asiana Airlines has announced that its Chengdu route has been suspended from May 21 through May 31.
The company operated four weekly flights between Inchon and Chengdu. Because of the impact caused by the Sichuan earthquake, Asiana Airlines decided to temporarily suspend the route with a further plan to decrease flight frequency on this route from four a week to two in June. In addition, Chinese air companies such as Air China and Sichuan Airlines have also suspended their flights from Inchon to Chengdu.
Asiana Airlines will also temporarily assign some cargo aircraft to transport the relief material of government and enterprises.
After the earthquake, travel agencies in South Korea said that there are increasing cancellations of China tour booking. Due to China's limiting the issue of inbound visas and South Korea's worrying about the spread of post-quake infection, the number of South Korean tourists traveling to China is expected to greatly decrease.
