Booking A China Travel Investment In MICE
Weng Tong is executive vice president of Beijing Zhong Li International Investment Company. He is responsible for executive management and government relationship management, which includes hotel travel agency sourcing as well as meetings, incentive travel, conventions and exhibitions product purchasing.
Are there any standards for your company when selecting hotel and MICE destinations?
Star grade, brand, price and location are the key factors we consider. Each hotel features its own special brand culture, which caters for different clients. We always make decisions according to the scale of the MICE event, the client's grade and preferences.
Which hotels do you usually cooperate with? Which hotels impress you most in China and why?
In Beijing, the China World Hotel, it's located at the center of the CBD and it is next to our office building. It's a well-known brand, luxury style and top executive business level assure it as our first choice.
Wangfujing Grand Hotel is good because of its special location and reasonable price point. It is the best choice to receive foreign guests. Its executive floor is the best place from which to view the whole Forbidden City.
In Zhengzhou, Crowne Plaza Zhengzhou is our commercial partner, where we run the Cuban Cigar Club and Jewelry Shop.
What would you like to say to a hotel's general manager and the sales director?
An obvious problem is different service levels at hotels with the same star grade, which shows in the infrastructure and the service. I strongly appeal to the government Star-Grade Hotel Assessment Committee to be much more strict on grading hotels. The hotel operator should go further and learn from professional industrial management and advanced service patterns. Standard service and relevant training are both important too.
What do you think about our bilingual magazine and website products?
It's a wonderful communications platform of high quality and service. Comprehensive online and offline information to meet different requirements.
What are your travel plans in the near future?
I plan to go Harbin to escape from busy Beijing during the Olympic period. Guangdong and Hong Kong are my year-end travel destinations.
