Hong Kong, Hainan Hope To Draw More British Tourists
To promote the position of Hong Kong as the gateway to mainland China, the Hong Kong Tourism Board and Hainan Provincial Tourism Bureau teamed up to organize a trade tour for delegates from the United Kingdom to visit Hong Kong and Sanya.
Britain is Europe's largest visitor source market to Hong Kong. Last year, arrivals from the country reached 601,168, representing an increase of 16.4% on a year-on-year basis. For the first four months of this year, visitor arrivals from Britain exceeded 230,000, which is 9.1% higher than last year's same period.
The delegation from Britain, composed of 25 sales representatives of long-haul markets from different British travel agents, was shown the tourism resources and environments unique to Hong Kong and Sanya through the eight-day trip. It is hoped that the tour will enable the representatives to develop and design more desirable travel products in line with multi-destination itineraries for the British market.
Upon arriving in Hong Kong, the delegation embarked on a familiarization tour to local famous tourist spots such as The Peak, Repulse Bay and Stanley. It then went on to explore Hong Kong's living culture through a tour from Wong Tai Sin Temple, Yuen Po Street Bird Garden, Flower Market to Goldfish Market.
After that, the group went on to visit Sanya, where the Hainan Provincial Tourism Bureau introduced the local environments and tourism resources to them. During their stay on the island, the group visited a number of local hotels and resorts, and were pampered in specialty spas and enjoyed various tourist facilities.
