Fraport AG Intends To Invest In New Kunming Airport

According to local media, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Yunnan Provincial Government has signed a memorandum of understanding with Fraport AG on strategic cooperation for the new Kunming airport.

Qin Guangrong, governor of Yunnan province said that Yunnan hopes to carry out full cooperation for investment, construction, operation, and management of the airport with Fraport AG on the basis of mutual benefit and a win-win relationship. The German party wished to build a strategic cooperation partnership with Yunnan for the construction and operation of the new Kunming airport and Fraport AG will bring management experience of new airport marketing and capital investment to the project.

According to the plans of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the new Kunming airport is positioned as a major domestic hub airport connecting to Southeast Asia, South Asia and Eurasian countries, and is expected to be the fourth largest international airport in China. In addition, Yunnan will enlarge the cooperation with aviation markets in Africa and Europe.
