Qatar Airways Opens Fourth Office In Mainland China
Qatar Airways has opened a new representative office in the southwest Chinese city of Chengdu — the airline's fourth office on mainland China.
The launch follows on from three ceremonies in March that marked the airline's official office openings in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker, who presided over the March openings, said the addition of the Chengdu office emphasized Qatar Airways' long-term commitment to the Chinese market. Al Baker expressed his enthusiasm for the latest office opening, saying, "Our move to Chengdu will allow the airline to establish closer relationships with Chinese leisure and business travelers in the region. It is an exciting time for Qatar Airways and we look forward to realizing more opportunities in the rapidly expanding Chinese market."
In March, Qatar Airways launched scheduled services from the southern industrial port city of Guangzhou to the airline's operational hub in Doha. Over the last five years, the airline has truly established itself as a major international player, operating more than 20 flights a week out of four key Chinese cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Guangzhou to Doha.
