American Hotel Services Support Beijing Olympics
Now that the Beijing National Stadium has been completed for the Olympics, the focus of Olympic hospitality preparations have shifted to providing accommodations for the global athletes.
Super 8, a well-known American hotel brand, is one of the members of the management team for the hospitality sector of the Olympics. Super 8 says it is responsible for 24% of the accommodations provisions in the Olympic village. In 2007, Super 8 China was appointed by the Beijing Tourism Bureau of Olympic Affairs as one of the members of the Olympic Village senior management team for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Being the only economy hotel chain of the 12 senior management teams, Super 8 China will manage nine apartment buildings, three service centers and two storehouses within the Olympic village during the Beijing Games.
This task is much easier said than done. Members from the franchise hotels soon realized the difficulty of their undertaking after beginning work. They needed to continually climb stairs without elevators and clean every room five to six times to match the standard of quality needed for the Olympic period. Many team members lost weight due to the extended periods of intensive work. "It's worth my energy and time to contribute to making a comfortable environment for athletes during the Olympic Games," a team member from Super 8 said.
As one of the largest economy hotel chains in the world, Super 8 has committed to servicing the franchise hotels' owners and the guests as well as to providing hotel management mode, training and operation since 2004 when it first came to China. Meanwhile, Super 8 China localized to meet the different requirements necessary for operation in mainland China. They are committed to the idea that maintaining high quality service is more important than fast growth. Super 8 has had successful experiences as a franchise chain, not only in China, but also abroad. It ranks as the first and largest American economy hotel franchise brand.
On January 19, 2008, activities supporting the Beijing Olympic Games were officially launched by Super 8. The Beijing Xue Yuan Road Super 8 hotel signed with the Organizing Committee of the Beijing Olympic Games to be the "Official Hotel for the 2008 Olympic Games". Super 8 also won the honor of "No Inspection Hotel for Olympic Spectators". This means all the hotels with the Super 8 brand need neither register nor undergo evaluation to receive guests during the Olympic Games.
Currently, Super 8 is playing an increasingly important role in the travel and hotel industries in China. As it has developed in China, Super 8 has transferred its proven hotel management mode to many economy hotels. The mission of Super 8 is endless like the Olympic spirit — the company says it is committed to its philosophy of clean and friendly service during the Olympic Games.
