Beijing: Imprecise Terms Not Allowed In Tour Contracts

According to the Beijing Municipal Tourism Bureau, Beijing's domestic tour contract criterion prescribes that travel agents are not allowed to use fuzzy language to describe the hotels' star levels — meanwhile Shanghai is soliciting advice for similar tour contract criteria.

The domestic tour contract criterion that Beijing has currently implemented regulates that neither hotels nor travel agencies are permitted to use fuzzy language such as approximate star-grades or equivalent to some star-levels.

Beijing Municipal Tourism Bureau said that current domestic tour contract criteria are recommendation standards but cannot be enforced.

All hotels star qualifications are assessed by the National Tourism Star-Grade Hotel Assessment Commission, the so-called approximate star grades are not official wording.
