Beijing To Get CNY78 Billion Investment For Tourism
Zhang Huiguang, director of the Beijing Municipal Tourism Bureau, said that the first Beijing Tourism Industrial Development Meeting which commenced on December 2, 2008, will firm up the development plan for Beijing tourism sector over the next three to five years.
It is reported that Beijing will attract an investment of about CNY78 billion from tourism enterprises that include China Travel Service (Holdings) Hong Kong Limited, China CYTS Tours Holding Company, and China International Travel Service, which will be used for a number of tourism project promotions including: cultural innovation; building attractions; and the development of ancient villages, special streets and districts.
From 2001 to 2007, Beijing's total tourism revenue increased from CNY113.2 billion to CNY210.3 billion, representing a growth rate of 86%.
In addition to tourism project promotion, the meeting will also focus on discussions about the tourism cooperation among the nine cities and regions, including Beijing, Tianjin, Liaoning, Hebei, Henan, Shandong, Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Inner Mongolia.
