Chinese Cities Working To Stimulate Domestic Travel
Seven Chinese cities, including Nanjing, Hangzhou, Xi'an, Kaifeng, and Anyang, which were all ancient capitals of China, plan to carry out a joint campaign to stimulate the domestic travel market.
Jin Weidong, deputy director of Nanjing Municipal Tourism Bureau, said these seven ancient capitals are all hot travel destinations in China and serve as bellwethers for China's tourism industry. Jin stated that the purpose of this campaign is to drive the development of domestic travel in China.
It is understood that after the mutual-travel agreement is signed, citizens of the seven cities will be able to enjoy preferential entry prices and other benefits at the scenic spots of all the cities involved, on presentation of their personal identification card. In addition, special excursion trains and charter flights will be arranged between the cities, discount cards will be issued to tourists of these cities and the tourism resource of each of the cities will be promoted in the rest of the cities to encourage citizens to travel to the other cities.
It is reported that when the International Plum Blossom Festival is held in Nanjing on February 20, the directors of the tourism bureaux of the seven cities will gather there to discuss details of this campaign.
