Carlson To Bring Radisson Plaza Brand To Chongqing
Carlson Hotels Worldwide has signed an agreement to add a new Chinese property to the Radisson Plaza portfolio, the 300-room Radisson Plaza Hotel Chongqing Nan Bin Lu.
The hotel, which is scheduled to open at the end of 2010, will be Carlson's first property in China's fastest growing city. It will feature three restaurants, including a specialty restaurant with a five-meter-high ceiling and cocktail lounge on the 36th floor, as well as a spa, health club and executive club. There will also be extensive banquet and state-of-the-art conference facilities, including eight function rooms and a grand ballroom.
The hotel will be near the city's tourist attractions, as well as Chongqing's main shopping, restaurant and nightlife districts. It will be 25 kilometers from Chongqing Jiangbei airport, which is connected to more than 30 local and international destinations, five minutes from the Jie Fang Bei Central Business District and in close proximity to Chongqing International Exhibition Center and Nan Ping Commercial Center.
The hotel, the fifth Radisson on the pipeline for China, is owned by Chongqing Xun Sheng Real Estate Development Company. Other Radisson properties in the planning stage are the Radisson Plaza Hotel Shenyang Hunnan, Radisson Plaza Hotel Tianjin, Radisson Plaza Hotel Sanya Lu Hui Tou, and Radisson Hotel Liuzhou. This is part of CHW's strategy to increase the brand's presence across the region and also support the group's overall development plans to more than double its hotel portfolio in Asia over the four year period from 2008 to 2012.
There are currently five Radisson properties already operating in China. They are the Radisson Hotel Pudong Century Park, Radisson Hotel Shanghai Hong Quan, Radisson Hotel Shanghai New World, Radisson Plaza Xing Guo Hotel Shanghai and the Radisson SAS Hotel Beijing.
