Holiday Inn Re-launch Program Progressing Smoothly In China

The InterContinental Hotel Group reports that since the global announcement of its USD1 billion Holiday Inn brand re-launch program in 2007, one-third of its total properties in China have already been renovated and refurbished.

Twenty-three hotels in China have now completed the relaunch, out of the total 71 Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts and Holiday Inn Express open nationwide. The completion of the global re-launch is expected to be completed in 2010.

The Holiday Inn relaunch program, led by the Holiday Inn brand family’s parent company IHG, is said to be the largest in the history of the hospitality industry, with more than 3,200 hotels around the world being updated, comprising 420,000 rooms and 12,000 new signs with the redesigned logo. In addition to the existing 3,200 hotels, there are another 1,050 in the development pipeline that are due to open with the relaunched branding in the next three to four years.

According to said Keith Barr, the regional managing director for IHG Greater China, the Holiday Inn relaunch program incorporates insights from two years of extensive IHG-commissioned consumer research, which gathered elements from guests globally on what matters most to them. Barr added that the research findings are focused on comfortable beds, invigorating bath facilities, sincere service, and an entirely new exterior.
