Yantai Rewards Travel Agencies

Yantai in Shandong province has recently published the "Management Measures for the Use of Tourism Development Funds" which states that travel agencies that perform well will receive subsidies from the local government financial department.

By the end of 2008, Yantai had a total of 605 tourism enterprises, and had received 23.81 million domestic and foreign tourists. The new approach, compared with the similar one implemented in 2008, has increased rewards for agencies organizing tourist trains, charter voyages, and charter flights to the city. For agencies organizing tourist trains or charter voyages of over 300 people, the prize would be CNY10,000; for 600 people CNY20,000; and for 1,000 people CNY30,000. To agencies organizing charter flights of over 100 people, the reward is CNY5,000; for 150 people CNY7,000; and for 200 people CNY10,000.

Key tourism enterprises that have performed well with regard to taxation with no major security incidents will get CNY100,000 to CNY200,000 as a premium. Travel agencies that have received 50,000 and 100,000 tourists for the first time will get CNY100,000 and CNY200,000, respectively.
