Grand Hotel Europe To Enter Qingdao

The Orient Express brand Grand Hotel Europe is to open in the Phoenix Island Tourism Resort, in the Qingdao Economic and Technological Development Zone, Shandong.

This will be the first project that Orient Express has operated in China, and will also be the tenth five-star standard hotel in the Qingdao Development Zone.

Grand Hotel Europe will cover an area of 100 mu, and will include a Northern European and Russian style hotel and a high-end international vacation club. Construction will start in the first half of 2010, and is expected to be finished in early 2012. It is being positioned as a venue for high-level events and forums.

Thomas Noll, the managing director of the Grand Hotel Europe, said Phoenix Island's wonderful scenery had impressed him a lot. While China already has the ability to develop top hotels, Qingdao Development Zone also offers extensive space for development. Noll added that he believes that Grand Hotel Europe Qingdao will be one of the world's best hotels.
