AA Postpones Launch Of Chicago-Beijing Route

AMR Corporation's American Airlines has canceled its inaugural flight between Chicago and Beijing which was scheduled for April 26, 2010.

A spokesperson for the airline, Mary Frances Fagan, stated that the airline has halted the launch of daily nonstop service between the two cities for it had not received "commercially viable" arrival and departure slots from the Chinese aviation authorities.

American Airlines had scheduled flights to depart Chicago O'Hare International Airport on April 26, 2010 and arrive in Beijing Capital International Airport at 13:55 on April 27. However the Chinese authorities gave American daily landing and take-off slots at Beijing Capital International Airport for 02:20 and 04:20, according to American Airlines.

Fagan added that American Airlines had postponed the launch of this route until a tentative date May 4, 2010 as it tries to resolve the dispute.
