Singapore Tourism Board Plans To Close Taiwan Office
According to reports in Taiwanese media, the Singapore Tourism Board plans to close its Taiwan office in Taipei.
Singapore Lianhe Zaobao cited Edward Koh Boon Wee, the regional director of STB Greater China, as saying that their Taipei Office will become a marketing representative office to continue the promotion of Singapore travel.
According to Koh Boon Wee, the representative office will continue to work on the promotion of Singapore as a leisure, business travel, convention and exhibition, and education destination, as well as on affairs such as business development development, market forecasts, market planning, exchanges, sales expansion, and fostering cooperation. Full details are still to be confirmed.
A deputy president of National Association of Travel Agents Singapore stated that STB offices worldwide act as a bridge for sales expansion and cooperation. The closing of the Taipei office is expected to reduce the marketing efforts of the STB in Taiwan.
