Sanya: First-half Tourist Arrivals Exceed Four Million
The Sanya Tourism Development Council reports that the number of tourist arriving in Sanya rose 19.52% year on year to 4.06 million in the first half of 2010, accounting for 53.92% of the full-year target.
The council said that the overseas market was back to growth after the global financial crisis and the rate of growth exceeded that of the domestic market.
In the period from January to June, the number of domestic tourist arrivals hit 3.85 million, up 19.29% year on year, while the number of overseas tourist arrivals increased by 23.77% from the previous year to 213,400.
Russia has become the top overseas market for Sanya, with 71,900 tourist arrivals, which accounted for one third of the total overseas tourists. In the meantime, the Russian market was also the fastest growing one, with a 71.58% growth in tourist numbers in the first half of the year.
