Provinces Gear Up To Build Shangri-La As An Ecotourism Region
The local governments of Changdu in Tibet, Diqing in Yunnan province, Ganzi in Sichuan province, and Yushu in Qinghai province have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to take measures to build the Shangri-La Ecotourism Region.
Under the agreement, the participants will remove barriers in policy, market, traffic, and services between the different regions.
Since 2002, the four provinces have been strengthening cooperation in tourism sector in the Shangri-La ecological tourism region, which has unique human and natural resources.
Changdu, the third largest city in Tibet, is expected to attract 350,000 tourists in 2010 and to earn CNY220 million in tourism revenues.
