Sichuan Airlines has launched a direct charter flight on the route linking Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province and Taichung, a city located in central Taiwan.
Previously the carrier had opened two flights, from Chengdu to Taipei and Kaohsiung.
The direct charter flight is operated once a week using Airbus A321 aircraft. Flight 3U8914 departs Chengdu at 14:00 and arrives in Taichung at 16:40. Flight 3U8914 leaves Taichung at 17:40 and gets to Chengdu at 20:40.
The carrier says it has decided to launch the Chengdu to Taichung route as there is huge market potential for tourism, trade, and cultural cooperation between Sichuan and Taiwan.
Sichuan Airlines also says it plans to open or restore 11 new routes.
