Sanya: 2010 Visitor Arrivals To Q3 Exceed 6.63 Million

According to the Sanya Tourism Development Committee, more than 6.63 million overnight tourists visited Sanya in the first three quarters of this year: up 20.7% from the previous year.

During the period from January to September, Sanya's six major scenic spots received 6.93 million tourists, 15.86% more than in the same period of the previous year. The hotel occupancy rate increased 2.09 percentage points to 61.38%. SanPhoenix International Airport handled 7.14 million passengers, 31.6% more than in the same period of last year.

Russia became the major overseas source market for Sanya during the period. A total of 100,000 Russian tourists visited Sanya in the first nine months.

The committee also said that tourism revenues rose 21.6% from a year earlier to CNY10.08 billion in the first three quarters. Domestic tourism revenue rose 21.6% year on year to CNY8.86 billion while tourism income of foreign exchange rose 23.3% year on year to USD180 million.
