Managing MICE Solutions At Xiamen Fliport Software Park Hotel

Shen Jianchun, the general manager of Xiamen Fliport Software Park Hotel, is a 27-year veteran of the hospitality industry. He has held senior management positions in a wide range of up-scale hotels throughout China.

What are your thoughts on the development of Xiamen’s hospitality market in recent years?

Xiamen’s hospitality market currently is still a seller’s market, where guest rooms are often in short supply during tourism or conference peak seasons.



What is the Fliport software park hotel’ characteristics and market position? What advantages does your hotel have in terms of MICE facilities?
Fliport Software Park Hotel is a business and conference hotel, which is designed to house grand meetings rooms and facilities to suit all kinds of meeting needs. More than 200 twin rooms are the fundamental guarantee.

What are the percentages of inbound and domestic customers? What the differences do you see between the inbound and domestic customers? What is the focus of service in your hotel?

The hotel mainly focuses on meeting and conference reception, thus the majority guests are domestic whilst around 10% are inbound customers.



The Xiamen government attaches great importance to MICE, and has made it one of the industries that will get the most support. What advantage does the Filport software park hotel have in terms of MICE?
The hotel lobby can be used for several meeting receptions simultaneously. In addition we have strong conference reception capacity: professional meeting butlers, 15 venues of different sizes for small to middle scale meetings and three grand exhibition halls along with matching rooms and restaurants, to best suit the needs of a meeting for 500 people.

What is your special strategy to attract more bookers in terms of MICE?

We provide professional meeting solution schemes to MICE bookers for their reference. Discounts and rewards are available to attract customers on both meeting charges, exhibition lay-out time and meeting facilities.

What is your idea of the relationship between a member award plan and hotel service? 
Currently neither membership cards nor member award plans are available.

What is your management philosophy? How to increase employee satisfaction in order to increase customer satisfaction?

My management philosophy is to make the hotel the first priority of our customers and staff. We are always making efforts to create an environment for staff that not only benefits their career development but also helps them to achieve their life goals and make their dreams come true. We strongly call on the sincerity, care, and honesty nature of both the management team and staff. To ensure our staff’s efficient service performance, we have introduce advanced techology and procedures into hotel, which play an important role in stimulating our staff and eventually making our customers' stay a pleasant experience.

We are public-spirited on social welfare activities of all kinds such as cultural and physical activities. Software Park Hotel promotes and takes part in the annual Earth Hour.
