Hello Kitty Land Comes To China
A Hello Kitty Land program launch was held recently in Hangzhou by Shanghai Yinrun Holdings Group and Sanrio Company from Japan. The program will be located in Anji, Zhejiang province.
It is reported that the Anji Hello Kitty Land will be first Hello Kitty theme park outside of Japan. Currently Sanrio hosts two theme parks in Japan, Sanrio Puroland in Tama, Tokyo, and Harmonyland in Hiji, Oita, Kyushu. The primary target market is families with children aged between three and 12 years old.
Designed by Sanrio and Hettema Group, the Anji Hello Kitty Land will cover an area of 900 Chinese mu and is expected to be completed in 2014. It is also estimated that the annual volume of visitors of the theme park will be around one million.
Sanrio has authorized Yinrun to invest in the theme park and operate it for 15 years. The program will have a total investment of USD200 million.
