Daily News Website Unveiled To Cover China's Booming Wireless, Telecom, And Mobile Sectors

Hong Kong, China (February 06, 2009) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — Extending its reach across more booming technology sectors in China, ChinaTechNews.com has now unveiled ChinaWirelessNews.com, a new spin-off website devoted to wireless, telecommunications, and mobile businesses in China.

As the first dedicated independent English-language website devoted to covering the wireless and telecom sector in China, ChinaWirelessNews.com delivers daily news brimming with information about 3G licenses, TD-SCDMA, MVAS, mobile phones, RFID, 4G, WCDMA, wireless standards, GSM, PHS, new Chinese regulations, Wi-Fi, WLAN, security, WVAS, and mobile gaming for I.T. professionals around the world. The new website provides advertisers, marketers, and conference companies a keen way to target executives and key decision-makers in important telecom-focused firms. Part of the ChinaTechNews.com group of Chinese-language and English-language Web media brands focused on technology, ChinaWirelessNews.com delivers valuable, immediately-usable information about what's going on in China's exploding wireless sector.

"The creation of handset manufacturing standards or the need for more mobile content in China has pushed I.T. professionals and investors around the world to stay focused on machinations in China in order to understand how to cash-in on all the opportunities that half a billion mobile users has to offer," says Danny Levinson, publisher of ChinaWirelessNews.com and the ChinaTechNews.com Chinese-language and English-language Web media brands. "With the global financial crisis causing companies to re-focus where they can generate income, China is developing into a top area for mobile games, wireless content, handset manufacturing, and the creation of standards. This will be the first year that 3G services begin in China, and ChinaWirelessNews.com provides a way for companies around Asia to focus on the best opportunities in the China market."

The advent of third-generation (3G) telecommunications services this year is expected to jumpstart some of the lagging mobile handset sales in recent months. According to the latest report on China's mobile terminal market in the third quarter of 2008 released by the market research firm Analysys International, 34.79 million mobile phones were sold in China from July to September 2008, decreasing 2.7% compared with the second quarter of 2008. Statistics show that the international mobile phone maker Nokia still dominated the Chinese mobile phone market with market share of 38.9%, followed by the Korea-headquartered Samsung with 18.6%, while Motorola ranked third with 8.8%. Chinese mobile phone brand K-Touch sold 2.83 million mobile phones during the period concerned and occupied 8.1% market share, which was the largest among Chinese brands, followed by Lenovo with 3.9% market share.

While actual handset sales might have slipped, China Unicom said that in December 2008, the number of its GSM mobile phone users increased by 424,000 over the previous month, helping it to reach a total of 133.37 million mobile users. Rival China Mobile released statistics showing that the number of its mobile phone users increased by 7.071 million in December 2008 over the previous month. By the end of December 2008, the total number of users at China Mobile reached 457 million.

"I.T. professionals are hungry for the latest conference information, Chinese mobile regulation news, and telecom merger updates, and ChinaWirelessNews.com is their one source for all this information," concluded Levinson.
