Online Hotel Booking Service Opens Office In Shanghai
Hotel.info, a free online hotel reservation service, has announced the opening of its representative office in Shanghai.
This is hotel.info's first venture into Asia. To date, it already has offices in four European countries including two offices in Germany. The company will first focus on acquiring links to new hotels in China and throughout the region in order to expand its portfolio of accommodation in Asia.
Warini Munshi, the head of international business development at hotel.info, believes this will form the basis for the company's future success, "For our existing European corporate customers and travelers visiting China in the future, the most important aspect of hotel.info is its global selection of hotels and the local hotel portfolio. In the second phase we shall start to target Chinese companies with the aim of having them use our booking tool to reduce their costs. The global economic crisis is helping us in this respect," she said. "After all, even Chinese firms need to access more efficient hotel bookings and reduce accommodation costs."
In 2008, hotel.info arranged around 50,000 nights' accommodation in Chinese hotels, with a total value of EUR4.5 million. Currently, hotel.info already provides access to more than 4,000 hotels in China.
