4th Eco Design Fair in Shanghai Aims to Collectively Turn Ideas Into Action

The Eco Design Fair Fall 2009 focuses on bringing together a growing eco-conscious community in Shanghai.

Shanghai, China (September 24, 2009) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — All are welcomed to the Eco Design Fair, held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at URBN Hotel, for a full day of educational workshops, prominent speakers, exchanges with eco-conscious designers and service providers. A fun filled day is planned for families and friends to also relax and enjoy live music, BBQ, activities for kids whilst browsing the latest products from eco-conscious designers and companies in Shanghai.

The Eco Design Fair exists to advance the sustainable design movement in Shanghai and build community awareness and action around environmental issues as well as provide solutions for healthy sustainable lifestyle. The Eco Design Fair is the original bi-annual fair providing the community the opportunity to network, exchange ideas and be part of a growing eco-conscious movement in Shanghai.

The Eco Design Fair Fall 2009 will return to URBN Hotel, the first carbon neutral hotel in China. Centrally located in Jing An District and is easily accessible by car, foot, bicycle and metro.

This year, our vendor criteria has been enhanced and all products and services on display have been evaluated based on the GIGA Pur Life Cycle Analysis, to ensure products or services at the Eco Design Fair either promote environmental responsibility or contribute to a sustainable future through design, construction and operation.

Net proceeds from this event will benefit Roots & Shoots Shanghai and their Million Tree Project in Ku Lun Qi, Tong Liao municipality in Inner Mongolia. The proceeds from previous events have resulted in donating over 270 trees to this project.

Sherry Poon, owner of Wobabybasics, an organic children's apparel company based in Shanghai, founded the Eco Design Fair in April 2008. With a growing community interest in organic and healthy sustainable living, she saw a potential to bring together the companies in the industry and the community. Her passion is to grow the community awareness through the Eco Design Fair and provide easy access to sustainable design products, services and expert advice from industry leaders to the general public.
