Le Meridien Qingdao Celebrates Its Grand Opening

Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts recently celebrated the opening of Le Meridien Qingdao, the first Le Meridien hotel in North China.

The opening ceremony was held together with the Wanda Plaza opening and hosted around 300 celebrities, dignitaries, society guests and members of media.

The 348-room hotel is a 30-minute drive from the airport, and is part of the Wanda Plaza which host a department store, supermarket, cinema, restaurants, offices and apartments. The property is only a few minutes away to other business, entertainment and shopping areas and is close to sightseeing landmarks such as Beer Street, the Olympic Sailing Center and beaches.

Qian Jin, the senior vice president of operations for Starwood Hotels and Resorts China and Taiwan, said that the group was very happy to bring the European rooted Le Meridien into the dynamic city of Qingdao, and he believed that both tourists and business travellers would delight in the luxurious accommodation and dedicated services enabling them to enjoy an interactive and cultured experience.

Tomas Hansson, the general manager of Le Meridien Qingdao, commented that the expected that Wanda Plaza would soon to be “the-place-to-be” in Qingdao. He added that with Le Meridien’s innovative service and distinctive brand culture, he was confident that Le Meridien Qingdao would set a new standard of hospitality in Qingdao.

Three Le Meridien signature restaurants offer a selection of international cuisines, including authentic Cantonese and Qingdao dishes at Le Mei, Japanese fare at Akebono, and international buffets at Latest Recipe, where the guest can enjoy Le Meridien Signature Breakfast and Le Meridien Eye Openers created by the well-known three-star Michelin chef Jean-George Vongerichten. The hotel lounge, Latitude 36, offers a selection of fine wines and exotic cocktails.

For meeting planners, the hotel offers more than 1,824 square meters of meeting and banqueting space. For greater flexibility, the 1,228 square meter pillarless ballroom can be divided into three areas and an additional seven multi-function rooms are all equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual facilities and complimentary wireless high speed Internet access.
