Starway Hotel Expects 100 New Members In A Year
Starway Hotel has announced that it plans to add a 100 additional hotels to its chain in a year.
The group will focus on east China, north China and Pearl River Delta.
Liu Jiajun, the executive general manager of Starway Hotel, said that the group has now 10 hotels in Beijing, its key area. Next the group will concentrate on development and expansion in east China, north China, and the Pearl River Delta, and is planning to add 100 new hotels in one year. By the end of 2010, the group is expected to have a total of 150 hotels.
Liu said that currently China has about 10,000 traditional mid-range hotels, yet due to the lack of strong brand and marketing capabilities, they are having a hard time surviving. Meawhile, the market is demanding high-quality mid-range chained hotels, revealing a major disconnect between supply and demand.
