Robert Rippon has been appointed as the general manager of Sofitel Shanghai Jin Jiang Oriental Pudong.

He began his hospitality career as assistant manager at The Rose and Crown Hotel in Australia. He first joined the Accor group at Novotel Beachcomber Surfers Paradise in Australia in 1991, where he was resident manager. His first post as general manager was with Accor at Novotel Manado in Indonesia. In 1998, he relocated to China to be the general manager of Sofitel Zhengzhou and Novotel Atlantis Shanghai. Rippon's previous posting was as general manager at Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16.
