Grand Mercure Shanghai Zhongya Opens Its Doors
The hotel is located at the South Square of Shanghai Railway Station, one of the busiest travel hubs of the city, and is only a few minutes walk from metro stations on Line 1, Line 3 and Line 4.
The 288 guestrooms and suites have soundproof windows and are equipped with full Internet connectivity, a work desk with multimedia control panel, and a 37 inch Philips LCD TV with a large selection of international channels.
A range of food and beverage options includes the Venu lounge which has a Grand Vins' wine cellar as well as offering Italian espresso coffee, cocktails, and a selection of tapas. Tiffin, the hotel's all day dining restaurant serves international cuisine, and features a buffet, and pizzas served direct from the hotel's own pizza-oven. The contemporary Chinese restaurant, Hua Fu Ming Jia, offers dishes from Canton, Shanghai, and other regions and specializes in seafood.
For meetings and events the hotel's ballroom can cater for up to 350 guests, and there are four additional meeting rooms. After work guests and delegates can relax in the in-house spa which has eleven therapy rooms or exercise in the hotel's fitness center.
Robert Murray, the senior vice president of Accor Greater China commented that the opening of this latest property extends their Shanghai network to 13 hotels and he believed that the hotel would not only benefit from the current "Expo effect", but also from the drastic improvement of the city's infrastructure, as well as the continuous fast development of its economy over time.
