China's National Day Holiday Brings New Highs In tourism
According to China's National Holiday Office and statistics collected by the National Tourism Administration and the State Statistics Bureau, about 254 million tourists visited scenic spots throughout the country during the week-long 2010 National Day holiday, 27.1% more than in the same period of last year.
Figures showed that tourism revenues rose by 32.4% year on year to CNY116.6 billion, with the expenditure per capita hitting CNY459.
During the Golden Week, restaurants and hotels received 59.08 million overnight tourists, 27.9% more than in the same period of last year, while the number of tourists making one-day trips was 195 million.
The country's railway system carried a record number of 63.6 million passengers during the holidays, up 24% from a year ago, earning CNY2.52 billion in revenue.
The number of tourists traveling by aircraft reached 57.5 million during the period. The country's airline carriers earned CNY5.6 billion in revenue.
