Beijing Reports 21.3% Increase In Tourist Arrivals This Year
Beijing saw the number tourist arrival hit 4.16 million in the first 10 months of this 2010 — 21.3% more than in the same period of the previous year and exceeding the total for the whole of 2009.
In the period from January to October, tourists from the USA, Japan and South Korea accounted for 35.9% of the total, with 602,000 from the USA, up 22.7% year on year; 460,000 from Japan, up 22.6% year on year; and 433,000 from South Korea, up 46.6% year on year.
During the same period, the capital also witnessed strong increases in tourist numbers from each of its continental source markets. Tourists from Asia rose by 30.7% from a year earlier; Europe rose by 15.65; America rose by 25.7%; Oceania rose by 13.6% and Africa rose by 18.2%.
Beijing's 198 National A Grade Scenic Spots received 150 million tourists in the first 10 months of the year, 12.3% more than in the same period last year.
