HK Disneyland Slated To Complete Expansion In 2013
Hong Kong Disneyland said recently that expansion work on the theme park will be completed in 2013, a year ahead of the original schedule.
The construction of three new themed areas — Grizzly Gulch, Mystic Manor, and Toy Story Land — will be finished in 2011, 2012, and 2013 respectively. After completion, the park will have been expanded to 27.4 hectares from the current 22.4 hectares.
It is hoped that the expansion will help it attract more visitors from mainland China in the face of challenges from Shanghai Disneyland, construction of which started on April 8, 2011. The aim is to increase the theme park's annual capacity to up 7.92 million to 8.92 million visitors.
