UNWTO Sets Up First Observatory In China
The World Tourism Organization's Yangshuo observatory, which is UNWTO's first sustainable tourism observatory in China, has been officially set up in Yangshuo in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Zhongshan University is responsible for the management of Yangshuo observatory. Data collected by the monitoring system will be used as a reference for tourism departments and organizations in other countries.
Yangshuo boasts a number of tourist attractions including Li River, West Street (Xi Jie in Chinese), China's largest outdoor performance "Impression of Liu Sanjie", and many AAAA and AAAAA scenic spots. Up to now, Yangshuo has received 4.6 million domestic and foreign tourists this year, and tourism revenue has reached CNY1.76 billion.
