Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport To Add Third Runway

The Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport has announced its expansion plan.

According to this expansion plan, the airport will add a 3,800-meter-long, 75-meter-wide third runway, a 528,000-square-meter terminal building, a parking area with the capacity of 62 aircraft, parking lots, and other supporting facilities. The project plans to cover 4,407 mu of area, aiming to handle 75 million of passengers and 557,937 aircraft movements per year by 2020. The third runway of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport to be added has entered the period of environmental assessment and it is expected to be completed by 2010.

The Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is about 28 km from Guangzhou downtown. It occupies an area of 15 square kilometers and has a 4E standard flight area, two runways and a terminal of 320,000 square meters.
