Average Booking Rate Of Beijing Hotels Decreases In May
The latest statistics from the Beijing Tourism Bureau indicate that average booking rate for Beijing hotels for the period of the 2008 Olympic Games decreased in May 2008.
Xiong Yumei, vice director of Beijing Tourism Bureau said in a press conference that as of the end of this May, the volume of room reservations across star-grade hotels in Beijing for the 2008 Olympic Games increased by 5.4% compared to the end of March 2008, but the average rate decreased slightly. The rate for five-star hotels was up while those of three- and four-star hotels were down to CNY1,523 and CNY2,185 per room per night, respectively, with a decrease of CNY30 to CNY40; that of two-star hotels was CNY828, CNY85 less than before. Xiong said that compared to the same period of last year, the average rates of those hotels basically increased by three to four times.
According to the current statistics on room reservation, customers mainly choose the central urban area in the north of Beijing but not the outer suburbs.
