Price Of Travel To Taiwan Up 15% During Spring Festival
Though the price of traveling to Taiwan is to be increased during the upcoming Spring Festival, Chinese tourists are still enthusiastic about the route.
Local travel agencies say that traveling to Taiwan will be 15% more expensive during Spring Festival, but this is still very popular among tourists. According to the Guangzhou Daily, about 2,000 people in Guangzhou have registered for the Taiwan trip during the Spring Festival, and this is almost four times the number of tourists that went to Taiwan during the National Day holiday in October 2008.
The upcoming Chinese New Year is the first after Taiwan direct flights were open to mainland tourists, so the trip to Taiwan is very attractive to families whose relatives or friends are living or working in Taiwan. For this reason, many the tour groups are said to be family-oriented, and account for 20% of the total.
